The show In-Faust, based on the famous play by Wolfgang von Goethe, is a one-of-a-kind modern dance work.

The piece is performed by the Italian imPerfect Dance Company, which hosts Israeli dancer Ido Tadmor, former artistic director of the Israeli Ballet, as soloist. The unique company offers the audience a journey into the depths of the human soul, and brings to movement expression the intense emotions that arise in Goethe’s tragedy.

Faust, in the last moments of his life, looks back on his past: his love affairs, his adventures, his addictions, and his complex relationships with Wagner, his student and loyal friend, and Marguerite, his beloved who represents salvation, love, and purity.

In the version by choreographers Walter Matthäney and Inna Brooke, the villain of the story, Mephisto, is played by two characters – one male and the other female. Another innovation in the shocking version of the classic story is the character of Stana, evil incarnate, who weaves the web of fate in which she traps Faust.

INFAUST is a complex work in which life is a struggle filled with passion, longing, love, temptation, and redemption, and in which even evil in its incarnation is revealed as human.

The modern dance troupe imPerfect Dance Company was founded in 2009 and has since taken the contemporary dance world by storm, garnering awards, reviews, and sympathy from various audiences around the world.

“Powerful…a pouring of pure emotion into an hour of movement” (The Washington Post)

“An extraordinary talent…to see the imPerfect Dance Company was to witness a journey into the depths of emotion” (La Gazette di Parma)

The work was created in collaboration with the Verdi Theater in Pisa, Italy.

The work also features Israeli painter Bazooka Joe – a self-taught artist who paints in a comic pop art style.
Choreography: Walter Matini and Ina Brooks
Special guests: Ido Tadmor, Bazooka Joe
