After the great success and enthusiastic reviews, the work of the Israeli and international choreographer Shahar Binyamini “BOLERO X” comes to the hall. A powerful journey between contemporary dance and orchestral music, with the participation and performance of 30 dancers of the Beersheba Dance Company. The performance is the first artistic collaboration of its kind, between Shahar Binyamini and the composer Ariel Blumenthal . The original music, recorded by the Revolution Orchestra conducted by Roy Oppenheim, accompanies the work
The program includes 3 works:
Part One APRIL
A powerful work, based on a renewed observation of questions of rhythm, body and group, as they were formed in formative moments in the history of modern dance. The work unfolds a ceremonial and temporal space, in which the collective body is formed into one living entity, and the individual moves between fusion and resistance. The movement moves between an inner impulse and collective action, creating a sensory-mystical experience of a ritual in the making. Original orchestral music was written for the work by Ariel Blumenthal, which combines traditional acoustic instruments with electronic elements, guitars, percussion and synthesizers – creating a rich, complex and surprising sound.
Part Two ARISE
A work that reexamines the ideas of space, image and feeling, as they developed in the early 20th century. The choreography moves on a delicate, mystical and sensual line, between movement minimalism and physical outburst, between the individual and his environment and between attraction and distance. This is a transcendental space, in which the body appears as memory, as longing and as impulse. In collaboration with composer Ariel Blumenthal, a new musical layer is woven, corresponding with familiar materials and offering them a contemporary interpretation, in a rich orchestral arrangement presented with a recorded soundtrack.
Part Three – BOLERO X
The evening will conclude with BOLERO X – a choreographed version of an iconic musical structure, based on the principle of repetition, accumulation, and gradual intensification. It is a movement built on a single rhythm and an evolving pattern, which gradually changes its colors and intensity over time.
The choreography focuses on the tension between the individual and the group, between control and devotion, and between discipline and passion for movement. From repetition and precision, an immersive, almost ceremonial physical experience is built, in which all the lines of the evening come together into a concentrated climax.
