The events of the Year of Hungarian Culture in Israel will open on March 11 with the biggest show of all: an operetta gala performed by the State Operetta Theater from Budapest, which is the central and most important European production house for productions in the operetta genre, of which Budapest is the birthplace, as is Vienna.

The Hungarian Operetta Theater was described as: “This is what is called pure pleasure! Don’t miss it! If you are looking for an evening out that will bring a glow to your heart, a tear to your eye and a lift to your spirits, this is the evening for you” (Daily Telegraph). As recalled in its previous visits to Israel, the theater was such a great success that it required adding shows each time. The performances in Israel were described as “Hungarian candy – the Budapest Operetta Theater offers a colorful experience that will disconnect you from reality for a short time and sweep you into a charming mixture of joy and pleasure.”

This time, the operetta wizards from Budapest return with a show that will present the best operetta hits such as “The Bat” by Johann Strauss, “The Merry Widow”, “Land of Smiles” by Franz Lahr, “Countess Maritza” by Kalman, “The Gypsy Princess” and much more.

The 80 soloists and orchestra of the Budapest State Operetta Theater will be joined especially for the performances in Israel by dancers from the Hungarian National Dance Company, who will present the famous Hungarian dances.
