  •   Dance Me is an exclusive creation inspired by the rich and profound work of Montreal-based poet, artist and songwriter, Leonard Cohen.   Approved by Leonard Cohen during his lifetime, and under the artistic direction of Louis Robitaille and the strong and bold dramaturgy of Eric Jean, this riveting homage to the famed poet-singer-songwriter evokes the grand cycles of existence in five seasons, as described in Cohen’s deeply reflective music and poems.   Three internationally renowned choreographers were entrusted with putting movement to Cohen’s legendary songs: Andonis Foniadakis, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Ihsan Rustem. Their powerful and profound choreographic world reflective of Cohen’s singular work is brought to life by 14 BJM performing artists.   Surrounded by a team of celebrated designers, Dance Me combines scenic, visual, musical, dramaturgical and choreographic writing to pay tribute to Montreal’s greatest ambassador.   • Al Stewart is a Scottish born singer-songwriter, folk-rock musician and a key figure in British music who rose to prominence as part of the British folk revival in the 60-70s. He developed a unique style of combining folk-rock songs with delicately woven tales of characters and events from history. He played at the first-ever Glastonbury Festival in 1970, knew Yoko Ono before she met John Lennon, and shared a London flat with a young Paul Simon. He writes, composes and performs for over four decades, release albums with perfect rock-folk songs, and in concerts he maintains his clear voice, together with sound and particularly rich guitar arrangements. As a communicative performer and gifted story teller, he makes sure to create an intimate atmosphere with the audience.

The Opera Theater and Moscow Stanislavsky Ballet Theatre

  • An evening of one-act works by a trio of the best contemporary choreographers in the world: Akram Khan’s Kaash – Kaash (Hindi word for “if only”) continued Akram Khan’s quest to build bridges between the worlds of contemporary dance and the classical Indian dance form of Kathak. “Petite Mort” by Yji Kilian – Petite Mort is a poetic way of describing an orgasm, in French, and in some other languages, this feeling is described as “little death”. In the moment of pleasure (or in the moment of potentially creating a new life) we are reminded of the fact that our lives are of relatively short duration, and that death is never far from us…. The choreography is based on two slow movements from Mozart’s two most famous piano concertos. “Autodance” by Sharon Eyal – in this work the dancers seem non-gendered, their accentuated legs make them resemble powerful centaurs. Autodance combines dance, techno and technique; Sometimes explosive, sometimes sublime. A visual, emotional, well-structured and highly aesthetic complex.   Duration of the show: 130 minutes including two intermissions The event is presented by the MART festival in Tel Aviv.

In celebration of MOMIX’s 35th Anniversary season, Viva MOMIX Forever is a compilation of company favorites taken from all six of the company’s shows. Additionally, four new pieces were created especially for the birthday celebration on June 10th at Teatro Nazionale in Milan, Italy. It was on June 10th, 1980 that Moses Pendleton performed the first ever MOMIX show at Teatro Nazionale, therefore this event and location were of special significance for the company.

The Monsters Garden Exhibition

  • In a one of a kind exhibition which was never seen before in the world, 20 especially made, unique and surprising monsters will be exhibited throughout the garden. The monsters were created and designed by Yossi Abolafia. Songs and stories by Ephraim Sidon. A huge amount of Sculptures, Directors, Painters, Composers, Actors, Musicians, Designers and Technicians have created this exhibition with lots of love especially for you! In its own time, each monster makes a short “performance” of a song, a story and other surprises, so you will be able to experience all performances many times during your visit. So let’s take some time to go through an adventure at the Monsters Garden. We also invite you to build your own personal monsters in the huge sandbox, to paint monsters at the painting compound, to have fun at carousel play area, to grade monsters in the “Monsters Parade” and participate in a prize giving monstrous lottery, to take pictures at the Monsters Wall and have a sit as the King and Queen’s monsters

Our Class

  • In 2008, the Polish playwright Tadausz Slobodzanek wrote a play that dealt with the lessons we learn from historical events. He called it “Our class. History in 14 lessons”. The ten characters in the play embody real people who lived in the Polish city of Yadavna. First bell, first day of school. Who doesn’t remember them? Excited and hopeful boys and girls tell about themselves, their parents and their dreams. This is how the shared story of their lives begins and this is how the play “In our class” begins. The ten characters in the play will become friends, they will rage, rival, reconcile, save each other, betray each other, love, envy and hate each other. Only one thing prevented them: to tear the invisible thread connecting their lives. As they themselves say: a classmate is like a family member. Director Natalya Kobliova: “In 2000, Y. T. Gross’s book “Neighbors” was published about the destruction of the Jewish community in the city of Yadavna. The book shocked Polish society and divided it into two camps: those who wanted to and those who did not want to admit their guilt. For the Poles, this is the history of their country, however There were also difficult moments in the history of Russia. Even today, sometimes we have to choose a side and take responsibility for our actions. When I was working on the play I asked myself: What would I have done? Characters in the play wonder: What could I have done? But this is not an answer. Wherever a person lives Under the conditions of a dictatorship, he ceases to be a man and becomes a wolf that sows destruction around him. A theater performance is the best way to learn lessons from history. The viewer sees in front of him human figures that reveal the entire lives of people and analyze the connection between the past, the present and the future. “Tadowsz Slobodzanek is not a neutral historian. He is concerned with eternal human problems and he fights for the purity of the human soul. The play “Our Class” won the great Polish literature prize Nike. Unwittingly, Boris becomes a thief, falls in love with beautiful Ninel and undertakes many dangerous and exciting adventures. This is a story of a journey through dreams, despair, anger and joy.   • Since its foundation in 1981, the legendary Rezo Gavriadze Theater from Georgia has won countless hearts of viewers around the world. Now he presents his unique and magical world on the Suzan Dellal stage in Tel Aviv as part of the M.ART festival. “Ramona” is a heart-wrenching love story between two… locomotives. In the post-war Soviet Union, the locomotive engineer Aron is sent to work in Siberia, while his wife Ramona waits for him at the small train station Rioni. The play is based on a sentence said by Rudyard Kipling: “Next to the marine engine, the locomotive is the most sensitive object that man has ever created.” Gabriadze incorporates another motif into the story – a traveling circus – a symbol of childhood and happiness: “The locomotive and the traveling circus are things that have disappeared from the world.   • The world’s first klezmer musical! Created by Ferenc Jávori Fegya, Kossuth Prize-winning composer, who, as the founder of Budapest Klezmer Band, represents Hungarian klezmer music better than anyone. The musical was written by István Kállai and György Böhm, the lyrics were written by Tibor Miklós, composed by Ferenc Jávori. The extraordinary and touching piece is presented by the Hungarian State Operetta Theater in Israel with more than a hundred performers on stage. Ferenc Jávori’s own klezmer band will also join the singers, musicians and dancers. The story takes place in a Romanian-Hungarian-Jewish settlement in Transylvania. András Bárány – son of a well-off farmer – is holding a bachelor party, preparing for his wedding with the poor, but very pretty Rózsi Patkós. It turns out that Rózsi does not have the necessary papers Mrs. Majzik, turns to the Cluj Orphanage for information. It turns out that Rózsi is not really the daughter of the Patkós couple, but was actually adopted. The real father was the owner of the late Blum Solomon mill, and the mother was Regina Weiz, seduced by that Blum, and who died soon after delivery.   • אנסמבל הפסנתרנים מולטיפיאנו והרכב הנקשנים טרמולו – שני הרכבים פורצי דרך שזכו להצלחה בארץ ובעולם, חוברים לערב חוץ-גלקטי שבו יציגו ביצוע מחודש ליצירתו פורצת הדרך של גוסטב הולסט “כוכבי הלכת”. “כוכבי הלכת” של הולסט מציגה דיוקן-צלילים של כל כוכבי הלכת במערכת השמש. היצירה האייקונית, שהושלמה ב-1918, חוללה מהפכה גדולה בכתיבה לתזמורות, והפכה להיות השראה לאינספור פסקולים בקולנוע ההוליוודי, בהם “מלחמת הכוכבים”. במלאת 100 שנים לביצוע הבכורה של היצירה, חזרו אליה שבעה מלחינים ישראלים בולטים – יוסף ברדנשווילי, אבנר דורמן, אבנר חנני, תומר יריב, אודי פרלמן, זיו קז’וקרו וישראל שרון – ותזמרו אותה מחדש. מצוידים בשני פסנתרי כנף ומגוון מסחרר של כלי הקשה, האנסמבלים יוציאו אותנו למסע בין כוכבים בעולם צלילי ייחודי שמקיים דיאלוג בין עבר להווה, וחושף את היצירה האלמותית של הולסט דרך עיניים של מלחינים עכשוויים. בנוסף ליצירתו של הולסט יבוצעו בערב המופע גם היצירות “רפסודיה ספרדית” מאת ראוול ו”לילה על הר קרח” מאת מוסורגסקי.

THE NAKED CLOWN
  • The Clown’s life is coming to an end. He is about to enter the unknown, but before “final curtain call” he needs to leave his collar behind, taking the last steps only with the nakedness of his very soul. What lies behind the clown’s perpetually smiling, painted mask? In this production, the disguise is removed both literally and figuratively, as the performers invite the audience on an unusual inner journey into imaginary realms, where the layers covering and protecting reality disappears. Our fellow travelers and guides in this spectacular production, accompanied and expanded with live music and dancers, are the acrobat artistes of Recirquel contemporary circus company. The show is crossing the borders of circus arts, dance, theatre and music. The company invited 5 dancers and 4 trampoline artists to take part in the year-long creation of The Naked Clown. The music compositions of the show were recorded with a symphonic orchestra, bringing the 19th – 20th century European music to life with a flair of circus.

  • The Ballet Company of Győr, founded by the graduates of the Hungarian Ballet Institute in 1979, made its début in the new building of the National Theatre in Győr under the leadership of Iván Markó. The Company soon became popular both in town and in the region. After having conquered the heart of the Hungarian audience, the Company won international appreciation within a short period of time. In addition to two premières in each theatre season in Győr, the company performed world premières several times in Budapest, Vienna, Athens and Paris. They had performances at the Scala of Milan, at the Bayreuth Festival Games and at the Olympic Games in Seoul. They went on tour in Austria, Germany, Japan, Italy, England, China, India, Russia and the United States. They have danced on stages of several Bohemian, Romanian, Slovakian, Danish and Israeli theatres. The production of the Ballet Company of Győr, out of a total of 27 productions, was awarded the Critics’ Prize at the World Theatre Festival in Baltimore in 1983.
